Step 1 - Know the possibilities
The first step is to ask the workshop or dealer for the options you have to put the hitch on your vehicle:
The couplings or tow balls are approved and designed specifically for each type or model of vehicle . In the workshop they will tell you what hook or hooks you can mount in your case.
You can also look for the hitch models that different manufacturers have for your vehicle. The most common hitch manufacturers are Urbeni, Bosal, Aragon, Westfalia, Thule, Lafuente, Moreno Remondo ... In addition, in some vehicle models, the manufacturer itself can mount the hitch at an official dealer.

The term to legalize a reform in a vehicle is fifteen days (according to Art.8.1 RD 866/2010). The owner of the vehicle that has undergone a reform, or a person authorized by him, is obliged to present it for technical inspection within said period.
In general (except for some particular cases), the documentation that you have to present at the ITV is:
At the ITV we will review said documentation and inspect your vehicle to guarantee its safety, that of the rest of the users and the legality, checking the installation and electrical connection of the hitch.
A fixed-type hitch must not interfere with the visibility of the license plate or lighting and signaling devices.
Step 3 - The last step is to go to your trusted ITV
Once the hitch is installed, the workshop will give you everything you need to legalize it at the ITV .

In general (except for some particular cases), the documentation that you have to present at the ITV is:
- Technical data sheet and vehicle registration certificate .
- Workshop certificate : it is a certificate of assembly of the hitch, workshops usually have a model, if not, check with your ITV.
- Compliance report : usually provided by the hitch manufacturer or, where appropriate, the vehicle manufacturer. You can also request it from an official renovation laboratory. Usually workshops take care of this.
- Hitch assembly diagram : provided by the hitch manufacturer.
- ID if you are the owner, if not, you also need ID and authorization from the owner of the vehicle to process the reform.
